This used to be the Plaza Roma of Intramuros, the Spanish walled city within the capital city of Manila, the Philippines. It's right in front of the Manila Cathedral and was a nice place to spend the afternoon amid the metro's sweltering heat.
Thanks to the decision of the Intramuros Administration led by Bambi Harper, this once flourishing and verdant respite has now lost its 25 historic trees. A bare lot in a concrete jungle. It really shows how insensitive and crass some people could be, especially during a time when environmental conservation should be promoted.
W.A.M. decries such irresponsibility.
