PLUSES: This *definitely* is the cheapest accommodation you could find in Amsterdam. Nice staff (mostly Brits). The breakfast is superb. My room was overlooking a charming Dutch interior patio. TV and well-maintained shared bathrooms.
MINUSES: The steep stairs. A bit far from most historic monuments (but very near the Dutch nightlife). And, depending on how you see it, a condom dispenser at the end of the flight of stairs.
