The city of Valladolid, Spain celebrated yesterday, September 8, the feast day of its main patroness, the Nuestra Señora de San Lorenzo. Although I suspect that most people go to fiestas to wine and dine, the religious element of the celebration remains a distinct feature of popular devotion among Spaniards.
Here below is a video of the start of the procession toward the Cathedral of this age-old image of the Virgin of San Lorenzo on top of her silver paso. Honor guards escorted the Virgin since she also possesses the honorary title of Mayoress of the City. The Himno Nacional (Spanish National Anthem, a.k.a. Marcha Real "Royal March") was played thrice as the image was being brought out of the church.
