I've been living here in Madrid for 3 yrs. and I haven´t seen the "spanish toreo" simply because I'm a supporter of PETA. I respect the spanish culture but this is the one I can't take. I pity the bulls because they die a painful death.
I so agree with you: the bulls die a senseless death. I have an inkling that bullfights remain famous largely for foreigners who come to watch the spectacle.
Also, there are many stakeholders who have invested huge sums of money in bullfighting. Big bucks, big business, big interests to protect.

how much did you pay for the show err, fight?
Around 30 euros, if I'm not mistaken. And this was still in Valladolid. In Seville or Madrid, the cheapest could fetch up to 60 euros.
